Finding Quiet in the Chaos

With the world we live in, it can be hard at times to find peace and quiet. Whether you live in a big city or a small town, pure silence can be hard to come by.  As you’re reading this, you may be cooking dinner for your big family, trying to pick up various toys laying around, studying for a big exam, or working a job that requires your full attention. You may be thinking, "Quiet time? What is that?"
If that’s you, then keep reading because we have 3 practical ways to find quiet within the chaos.
You see, God knew we would have busy lives here on Earth. He didn’t put us here without struggles and things to pull our attention in a million different ways. God knows you’re busy. He sees you working & taking care of your family. He sees you giving it your all. He doesn’t want you to be perfect. What He wants from you is perfect effort.
How can we achieve that?
Step one: Quiet the noise.
If you are someone who doesn’t have children yet, what do you do when traveling in your car? Do you listen to music or an audiobook? I’m not saying either one is bad but imagine this. Turn down the volume. Give yourself just five minutes of no noise and talk with God. Tell Him what’s going on in your life & just have a one-on-one conversation with Him. Five minutes may not seem like enough time, but you can add a minute here and there! You’ll be amazed at how much better you feel spiritually and mentally spending that time with Him.
Step two: Don’t snooze on God.
I for one am not a morning person, however since I have started to wake up ten minutes before my alarm, it’s made a huge impact on my day. Now, ten minutes may not seem like a lot, but if you consistently do it then you are giving him your perfect EFFORT!
Step three: Be intentional.
Now this last step may seem really simple, but it’s the easiest one you can do. Make a time for God by writing it DOWN. We are a society of planners, alarms, timers, and lists. Spending time with God should be the most important thing you do all day. So, write it down. Cross it off. Be intentional about how you’re spending your time with God.
I hope these steps allow you to find quiet time with God this week. Remember, God wants your perfect effort.
