Faith Over Matter
Faith Over Matter
I can’t count how many times I’ve heard or even used the common phrase, “mind over matter.”
But what does it actually mean? To have a mind over matter outlook? When I turned to our good friend, Google, I found that it can be described as, “the use of willpower to overcome physical problems.” What a great concept to have! But, what if we switched the title around? If we made a new phrase? Instead of having the “willpower” to overcome physical problems, what if we gave the physical problem to God to help us overcome? Let’s not use our minds to overcome our problems. Instead, let’s use our FAITH to overcome problems.
1. Who are you letting be the “problem-fixer” of your life?
As humans, it’s in our nature to want to react to the problems we face and try to fix them ourselves. We don’t like to wait in the middle of our storms. We want an easy fix. But, what if the easy fix isn’t according to God’s plan? I believe that as humans, God created us to be imperfect. That way we can turn to Him to find PERFECT peace. If we step into the role of “problem-fixer” we are slapping a band-aid on our life. We’re giving our problems a quick fix. Only with God can we get a permanent fix.
2. How do we let God be our “problem-fixer?”
This may be way easier said than done. Often times in our lives, we tend to be a little impatient. We’re a generation of wanting instant gratification, so if we aren’t getting things solved instantly, we’re easy to make decisions out of reacting.
Psalms 37:7 says, "Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act.”
We have to be still in the waiting. Even in the most difficult of times and circumstances, we have to be still and know that He has a plan far greater than we could ever imagine.
As you continue your week, don’t use band aids to superficially fix your own problems. Instead, allow God to supernaturally and permanently work in your life.
